Marriott Timeshare Benefits - Why Own?

One of the major benefits can be described in a word. Flexibility!

That comes firstly by purchasing your Timeshare as a week within a specific period or season. Your right to use a specific week within that period at your “home destination” is then allocated on a priority basis. If you have a structured schedule and prefer the “home destination,” then a permanent allocation is an available option for you.

However, many timeshare owners have schedules that vary from year to year. And they want the flexibility to change destinations and their vacation experience. If that’s you then owning a vacation villa or condominium “the Marriott way” has benefits.

Instead of scheduling your vacation at a particular resort at a specific time of the year you “deposit” your ownership and are given a preferential allocation at any of the other resort destinations. There are rules of exchange obviously. However the program, because of the numbers of resorts and the large pool of owners, works well. Especially for those who want the excitement of planning a different holiday experience each year. Alternatively, you can “deposit” your ownership and receive Marriott Rewards points. These points can be converted to stays at most of the Marriott----and there are some 2300 hotels worldwide---- facilities. Another option, and one that works well because of the Marriott name, is to exchange within Interval International’s (II) global system of 2000 resorts in seventy five countries. It is an advantage that II works closely with the Marriott group.

On the downside of dealing with such a large organization as the Marriott Group, the service can be perfunctory and impersonal. Polite but impersonal. The sheer size of the Company and the vast range of options can make for confusion and difficulty in understanding what is available to you. What rights you have as a Marriott timeshare owner.

And there are benefits to that that gives owners, or members, some unique advantages. Interestingly, those advantages are reflected by the description of owners as “members” and Timeshare as “Vacation Club Membership”. You still receive, usually deeded ownership in a Timeshare property.
